Snapchat is now a supported channel in WeltPixel Conversion Tracking. It joins GA4, Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, Reddit, OpenAI ads, and Pinterest ads on the server side, plus Klaviyo event sync.
What shipped
Snapchat runs on the same model as the other ad platforms in the app. The Snap Pixel loads on your storefront for browser-side page views. Your funnel events and the purchase event are sent server-side, straight from our servers to Snap's Conversions API, so a sale still records when a shopper's browser blocks the pixel. The browser event and the server event carry a shared event ID, which is how Snap knows they are the same sale and does not count it twice [1]. Deduplication is the part most manual setups get wrong, and it is handled for you here.
Server-side is the whole point. A browser pixel fires from the shopper's device, so ad blockers and Safari's tracking prevention drop a share of events before Snapchat ever receives them. A browser-only setup loses a real portion of that traffic, and how much depends on your audience and device mix. A server event leaves your backend after the order is confirmed, carrying hashed customer data the browser could not reliably send, which is what lifts Snapchat's match quality for logged-in users, per Snap's own Conversions API documentation [1].
How to turn it on
You need two values from Snapchat Ads Manager:
- Your Snap Pixel ID, from Events Manager.
- A Conversions API token, generated under Business Details → Conversions API Tokens. Copy it right away, since Snapchat shows it once.
Paste both into the Snapchat channel in WeltPixel Conversion Tracking. Before you go live, flip on Test Mode and place a test order. Test Mode sends events to Snapchat's validation endpoint, where they are checked but kept out of reporting and optimization, so you can confirm the setup is accepted without touching your live numbers. Turn it off when you are done and server-side conversions start flowing.
The full walkthrough, including how to find each value and the anchor links our in-app help points at, is on the Conversion Tracking documentation page. If you want the wider picture of every way to track Snapchat on Shopify, including the DIY GTM and Custom Pixels routes, that is in our Snapchat Conversion API on Shopify guide.
Why we added it now
Snapchat had a working Conversions API for years, but on Shopify there was no native app path to it. Merchants running Snapchat either lived with browser-only data or stood up a GTM server container to forward events, which means a container to host and a monthly bill. Pinterest was in the same spot until we shipped it in July. Snapchat is the next one out of that queue, on the same server-side foundation, so adding it was mostly wiring a new destination into a pipeline that already dedupes and handles consent on the browser side.
The trigger was merchant demand plus the measurement math. Once Snapchat is more than a test line in the budget, the conversions that iOS attribution drops are real money, and a server-side feed recovers a measurable share of them. Making that a two-value setup instead of a container project is what moves it from "worth it for big spenders" to "worth it for anyone running the channel."
Plan and consent
Snapchat is on the Plus plan at $39/mo, the same tier as every ad platform beyond GA4. The free plan tracks GA4 only, up to 100 storefront orders a month. Browser Snapchat events respect Shopify's Customer Privacy API consent signals, the same as the app's other browser pixels.
FAQ
Which Snapchat events does the app send?
The Snap Pixel loads on your storefront for browser-side page views. Your funnel events and the purchase event are sent server-side through Snap's Conversions API. The browser and server events share an event ID so Ads Manager does not double-count.
What do I need to connect Snapchat?
Two values from Snapchat Ads Manager: your Snap Pixel ID (Events Manager) and a Conversions API token (Business Details → Conversions API Tokens). Paste both into the Snapchat channel in the app.
Is Snapchat included on the free plan?
No. The free plan covers GA4 only, up to 100 storefront orders a month. Snapchat, like the other ad platforms, is on the Plus plan at $39/mo.
How do I test the setup before it counts?
Turn on Test Mode in the Snapchat channel and place a test order. Events go to Snapchat's validation endpoint, where they are checked but excluded from reporting and optimization. Turn Test Mode off to send live conversions.
Snapchat tracking is live now. Install WeltPixel Conversion Tracking on Shopify or open the Snapchat channel if you already have it.
