How to display custom labels on Product Page Tabs

When it comes to presenting information to customers in a user-friendly way, it's easy to think Magento has it all, right out of the box, however, when taking a closer look, it becomes obvious that some handy functionalities are indeed missing. One of these functionalities is definitely the ability to add Custom Tabs on the Product Page, which our aptly-named Smart Custom Product Page Tabs extension comes in to sort out! The extension allows merchants to easily set up additional tabs on Product Pages, as well as edit or even hide the default Magento ones, ensuring full control over the information presented on the Product Page, thereby increasing conversion rates substantially.

Using Custom Product Page Tab Labels

In the most recent version of the Smart Custom Product Page Tabs extension, which, at the time of writing this post, is 1.14.5, we introduced an awesome new feature that allows merchants to take their already-amazing Custom Tabs to a whole new level: the ability to add and use labels to Custom Product Page Tabs. This feature is a total game changer because it enables merchants to properly direct and control customer attention where it matters most, on the Product Page. Once a potential shopper reaches the Product Page, keeping their attention is crucial to ensure they convert, which means this functiuonality is a must-have! Read on below to find out just how easy it is to implement!

Note: This guide assumes you already have a Custom Product Page Tab set up with out Smart Custom Product Page Tabs extension. If you don't, check out the extension's User Guide.

Configuring the Custom Product Page Tab Label

To set up your label, make sure you have the latest version of the Smart Custom Product Page Tabs extension installed. You can upgrade to the latest release by downloading the extension files from the Downloadable Products section of your weltpixel.com account. If you're using the Pearl Theme, you can follow the process described in this article to upgrade the theme and included extensions. Once you're running the latest version, you can follow the steps below to set up a custom label:

Step 1 - Accessing the extension's Magento Admin Settings

Head into the WeltPixel → Smart Product Tabs → Smart Product Tabs Grid section and Edit the Custom Tab you want to add a label to.

Step 2 - Customizing the Product Tab Label

Set the Display Label configuration option to Yes. This will reveal additional options that you can use to control the label. For the time being, you can either:

  • Set a completely custom text-based label name, which will show the same value on all Product Pages on which this tab is displayed
  • Set an attribute-based label, which will pull the value of the selected attribute and potentially display a different text on each Product Page, depending on the attribute value

The more dynamic of the two is the attribute-based option, but whichever option you want to utilize will depend on your specific use-case. In the example below, we're using the static text option to add a label to our Size Chart tab which will let customers know that custom sizes are available, so they don't need to worry if they can't find their specific size in the Size Chart.
